Measuring Windows For Horizontal Blind Installation
|
General measuring guidelines and practices.:
- Use a steel tape for accuracy.
- Measure the exact width of the window at the top and the bottom.
Use the narrowest measurement and write it down.
- Measure the exact length from top of window opening to bottom
sill, one measurement on each of the ends. Use the shortest measurement
and write it down
- Make all measurements to the nearest 1/8 inch. IMPORTANT:
All measurements should come from measuring the window.
- Do not take your own deductions. The factory will take necessary
deductions and allowances.
- Double check all measurements. An old saying among construction
people is, "Measure twice, cut once." Your second measurment will
head of 98 percent of your problems.

Inside Measurements:
For "Inside" blinds, measure the horizontal width inside the window
frame and subtract 1/8". Then measure the height from the inside
top frame to the window sill. Measuring the width at the top, middle
and bottom is always a good idea, just to ensure the squareness
of the window.

Outside Measurements
The window covering will hang outside the actual window frame,
over lapping the window frame enough to cover for maximum privacy
and light blockage.
- Width: Measure the EXACT distance from the outside edge of the
left side of the window frame to the outside edge of the right
side of the window frame for horizontal blinds and shades ADD
4 - 6 inches for verticals.
- Height: Measure the EXACT distance from the top outside edge
of the window frame the bottom outside edge of the frame for horizontal
blinds and shades, ADD2 inches for verticals.
- ****The exception to this rule is the measurement of a window
on a door, to be mounted on a door. Measure the trim around the
glass and add four inches the the measurement. Always ask for
hold downs for door mounting!
